Cheesy Bolognese Gnocchi Bake

The ultimate comfort food made with gnocchi and a rich bolognese sauce, topped with melted cheese.

  • 1 pound gnocchi
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions, then drain.
  6. Combine the gnocchi with the sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese in a baking dish.
  7. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based meat.
