  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough to a rectangle and spread with softened cream cheese.
  6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon, then roll up tightly.
  7. Cut into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Let rise for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Mix the milk with any remaining powdered sugar for a glaze and drizzle over the warm rolls.
