  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, layer with strawberries and chocolate frosting.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle chocolate syrup on top.
  • Fresh strawberries can be substituted with frozen strawberries, just thaw and drain them first.
