Indulge in the creamy layers of coffee and mascarpone with this classic Tiramisu recipe.

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 30 ladyfinger cookies
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until pale and thick.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk until just boiling. Gradually whisk into egg mixture.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form, then fold in mascarpone.
  6. Combine cooled custard with whipped cream mixture.
  7. Dip ladyfingers briefly in the espresso mixture and layer in a dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat layers and finish with mascarpone.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add more coffee liqueur.
  • Ensure espresso is well-cooled to avoid soggy ladyfingers.
